Part of SCTT’s role is to provide support and advice to key stakeholders with the aim of making Scotland a recognised global leader in telehealth and telecare. Within that are a wide range of resources.
SCTT will provide consultation and facilitation services that include:
- Identifying a single point of contact within SCTT to support and communicate effectively with our stakeholders and provide contributions to specialist/national groups as appropriate.
- Work with the expertise of the SCTT team and that of local, national and international experts in a complementary and supportive way.
- Help our stakeholders to identify and secure funding opportunities and, if requested, assist in the development of business cases.
- Act as a conduit between health boards, local authorities, other public sector bodies, industry and other organisations to facilitate developments and support local strategies.
- Using knowledge developing in Scotland, encourage and support the use and development of digital information.
- Influencing and informing national policy and strategic priorities by working in partnership with the Scottish Government, COSLA, and other key stakeholders.
SCTT will also share information and good practice, outcomes and evaluation. This includes:
- Identifying new and sharing existing evaluations and evaluation techniques to measure the impact of telehealth and telecare.
- Developing and maintaining a national database of telehealth and telecare services in Scotland which will act as a supportive sign-posting tool for those setting up new services.
- Continuing to promote good practice and facilitate shared learning across Scotland via the Telehealth and Telecare Learning Network.
- Capturing and sharing lessons learned along with the outcomes and evaluations from projects and services that we are involved in.
- Developing and sharing cost and volume models which can help to address the invest-to-save requirements to scale up telehealth and telecare.
- Linking with other ongoing outcomes activities, contributing where appropriate.
- Acting in partnership with our stakeholders, using our national role to disseminate information to all interested parties.
SCTT will carry out research and promote innovation by:
- Continually “horizon scanning” for emerging technologies and identifying where they may be appropriate for Scotland in partnership with relevant key stakeholders.
- Carrying out, publishing and disseminating research and helping to identify the ‘next best thing’.
SCTT will provide technical expertise, including:
- Where requested, providing technical advice to our stakeholders when they want help with options of telehealth and telecare solutions, integrating with local technical requirements and working with the National Video Conferencing Infrastructure.
- Reviewing the availability of solutions in Scotland and beyond.
- Working in partnership to develop and expand the National Video Conferencing service within both NHS Scotland and the wider public sector.
- Working with partners to develop a range of web-based training tools for professionals, service users and their carers to support adoption of new technology solutions.
SCTT will support the development of new services and service redesign programmes, which includes:
- Identifying solutions that benefit the wider Scottish health, care and wellbeing agendas.
- Helping to identify funding opportunities.
- Providing, where appropriate, project and programme management facilitation and support.
- Providing, where required, clinical advice on the best ways to safely adapt clinical services to incorporate telehealth and telecare.
- Helping to manage specific local projects and programmes to support our stakeholders as they implement telehealth and telecare services.
- Designing, managing and delivering opportunities for NHS 24 to deliver national services centrally for the benefits of the wider community.
